Big City Improv

For the past two years, Big City Improv has been performing every Friday night at The Shelton Theater. As the troupe continues to grow, they are performing at more venues throughout the Bay Area, including The Ashby Stage in Berkeley-home of The Shotgun Players-and the Town Hall Theater in Lafayette. Shows are fast-paced, un-scripted, and created on the spot using audience suggestions and participation.

Secret Improv Society

Secret Improv Society performs every Saturday at 10 PM at the Shelton Theater. Their popular theatrical shows blend improvised theater, comedy, and music to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. The company features a guest host each week. San Francisco's best improvisers, comedians, and musicians join the quick-witted cast in applying their unique creative process to whatever the audience throws their way. Shhhh!.

An Evening of Landry and Summers

Shaun Landry, native Chicagoan now living in San Francisco, is the Artistic Director of the longest running African American Sketch Comedy Improv Ensemble Oui Be Negroes, founded with Hans Summers. Landry and Summers worked together for years in Chicago with the Underground Theatre Conspiracy, and created Oui Be Negroes as an African American driven Sketch and Improvisational Comedy Troupe geared specifically toward social and political humor. In 2000, Oui Be Negroes relocated from its birth place in Chicago to their new home in San Francisco. They continue to produce sketch and improvisational shows and are the house ensemble of The San Francisco Improv Alliance.

Rover Hendrix

An exploration of improvisation. Join the players of Rover Hendrix as they take you on a rapid departure from reality as you know it. A high-energy, physical exploration and its power to heal the sick, calm the angry, and breathe new life into the weary. A spiritual tonic for the 21st century. Mark Twain wrote, "The best play I never saw happened long after my demise. Oh, that Rover and his Hendrix."

Was it the chauffeur in the sauna with a turkey baster? Or maybe the nanny in the drawing room with a world globe. You choose the murder weapon and where the dark deed takes place but that's just the beginning. Join the members of Go Fish as we create a classic Murder Mystery live before your eyes. Follow our steely detective as he (or she) questions eccentric suspects, exposes dark secrets, pieces together puzzling clues, and reveals the murderer in an iconic tension filled final confrontation-but it's all made up on the spot, so the audience finds out who the killer is exactly at the same moment as the actors!
