Donald Currie first performed with Boxcar in living rooms throughout the Bay Area in Edward Albee’s The American Dream. He was apart of the original cast of Rent Boy Ave.: A Fairy’s Tale and recently seen in Museum, and ISF. Deeply involved in San Francisco’s 60’s theatre scene, Donald formed a theatre commune called the Gestalt Fool Theatre Family and a musical group called Don and Pilar. In the 70’s he revived singing telegrams in America with his company Western Onion Singing Telegrams. When AIDS began devastating the gay community in the 80’s he left theatre to start the SF AIDS Foundation. His spoken word CD’s, Sex and Mayhem, has become the basis of a one man show of the same name at New Conservatory Theatre Center. He has performed with Theatre Rhino and is a founding member and current Artistic Director of Theatre Shark.
