Script Submissions

Although Boxcar Theatre is a “Director’s Theatre” we are still very active in discovering new plays and playwrights. We aim to pair playwrights and experienced directors together to bring new work to fruition.

As a company, we focus on imagery and physical relationship with a taste for the absurd and surreal. We do not produce kitchen sink dramas, but instead look for the inherent theatricality of a piece and continually ask ourselves, “Why are we making people watch this live?” We believe that theatre has an ability that is not found in film or on paper, and are geared towards pieces that make that distinction. We seek to tell innovative stories of the human condition in an epic capacity.

We have many different styles of working for the many different forms of performance we create, but they all boil down to one common thread: collaboration.

If you believe your script or idea meets the above criteria, you may submit a brief synopsis or complete text. Please allow 6-8 weeks for a response. Scripts will not be returned.
