Peter Matthews

Ensemble Member since: 2005
Productions with Boxcar: 16

Peter Matthews is the Artistic Director of Boxcar Theatre. He has been involved with nearly every single production Boxcar has produced since its inception. Some of his favorite experiences include playing a Woodland Nymph and Kobe the Cow in Animal Kingdom (as well as co-writing it) and Romeo in 2009’s Romeo & Julien. He has directed and co-directed numerous Boxcar shows and the most memorable moment was finding the most effective way to produce a severed tongue on stage for 2008’s Manners and Civility. Peter received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the Pennsylvania State University’s School of Theatre Arts and has worked with over a dozen different companies in the Bay Area and East Coast, but his heart lies with Boxcar.
